A grieving parent’s wishes were carried out by a stranger thanks to the simple and powerful message a mom discovered on a secret note in a toy store. Read on to find out more about what happened when one mom found a note taped to a display in Toys R Us.

Bonita Ortega took to Facebook to share the touching story of her unique experience shopping for her toddler. Ortega’s two year old son, Nixon, had broken his leg, so she decided to stop in Toys R Us on her lunch break and buy him a “Get Well” gift. Searching through the Cars gear in her son’s favorite section, Ortega suddenly spotted an envelope taped to a shelf. Written on the outside it said, “Please use this cash to buy something in honor of our son Henry who would be 4 on March 2, 2017.”

Ortega was in disbelief, “I immediately started to cry. It was bittersweet tears. I was hurting for Henry’s family, but so thankful that my Nixon could honor this sweet boy.” She wishes she could thank Henry’s parents for their sweet gesture in person. While they might not ever see her post, sharing her story has inspired others to perform random acts of kindness themselves.
