As the company that changed everything we knew about travel celebrated its 10th anniversary, Airbnb announced major updates to its service this week. The new changes to the revolutionary accommodation-booking site will take family vacation planning to the next level.
The new updates just unveiled by Airbnb include four new property types to help narrow down your search for the perfect vacation stay. Previously, users could search by three categories: Entire Home, Shared Space, and Private Room. As a family, you likely always select Entire Home, but that still leaves a lot to sort through. With the addition of Vacation Home, Unique, B&B and Boutiques, you can now give your search more definition. The Vacation Home, for example, would feature more traditional rentals, while the Unique would lead you to those one-of-a-kind treehouses and yurts.
Airbnb has also launched new tiers of listings to include Airbnb Plus and Beyond by Airbnb, the latter which will launch later this spring. With Airbnb Plus you will be able to narrow your search to verified listings so that you don’t find yourself stuck with any unpleasant surprises when you arrive. These rentals will be verified against a 100-point checklist for things like cleanliness and comfort. Beyond by Airbnb will feature luxury retreats in incredible accommodations, like ocean-view villas and French castles.

The vacation-booking site is also rolling out Airbnb Collections, which will group together listings targeted to specific travel groups, like Airbnb for Family and Airbnb for Work.
