According to reports from Recode, Amazon is getting ready to take is cashless store model to the East Coast. The new store is set to open inside Battery Park City’s Brookfield Place (the former World Financial Center). Amazon Go brings the future to your grocery shopping experience. Using tons of tiny little cameras and plenty of super-smart technology, the stores allow shoppers a true grab and go experience. Shoppers can walk out without stopping at a cash register. The store knows exactly what you’ve taken off the shelf and put into your cart or bag, and then Amazon charges your account as you walk through the store’s sensors before exiting the store.
The first Amazon Go stores opened in the company’s hometown of Seattle in February of this year. Joining these stores are more Amazon Go locations in both Chicago, Illinois and San Francisco, California. But, of course, this left the East Coast without a cashier-less store—that is, until now.
So when will the NYC Amazon Go store open? As of now, eager shoppers still have to wait for the NYC Amazon Go store’s official opening date.
