Sherry Boston, DeKalb County Solicitor-General

Sherry Boston—mom to Hayley (9) and Lucy (7)—is the elected official responsible for overseeing the prosecution all the misdemeanor crimes in DeKalb County, including domestic violence, elder abuse, cruelty to children, vehicular homicide, drunk driving, stalking and harassment, trespassing, and animal cruelty. But instead of citing a strict code of conduct as her parenting philosophy, Sherry is quick to credit the kindness and goodwill of friends and fellow parents in helping to balance a demanding career with a rich family life. "My mantra is family first," she says, and when she's not working hard to keep all of Atlanta's kiddos safe, you'll find her with her daughters at the nail salon, movie theatre, or whipping up something delicious in the kitchen.

Proud Moment: Her appointment to the role of Solicitor-General in 2011 by former Governor Sonny Perdue ranks as one of her crowning professional achievements, because it set the stage for future professional aspirations and success. And she's equally proud of winning her bid for DeKalb County District Attorney this year after challenging and unseating the incumbent by receiving 63% of the vote.

Words of Wisdom: "My calendar is my best friend. I have found it is the best way to stay organized, focused, and sane. If it’s not on the calendar, it does not exist!"
