From the thrilling rides and the laughter at the midway to the soft serve ice cream, corn dogs, and saltwater taffy, there’s a reason why families flock to beaches boasting wooden planks and non-stop excitement, year after year. Take a stroll through the gallery below to discover our picks for best boardwalks to visit with kids of any age.

Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk – Rehoboth, De

From classic boardwalk shops like Rehoboth Toy & Kite Company, to beachside attraction Fun Land (19 rides and classic carnival games), and the Beach Bandstand, home to the annual summer concert series, it’s no wonder Rehoboth lives up to it’s title as the “Nation’s Summer Capital.” However, with year-round events such as the Sea Witch Festival and the Rehoboth Beach Sandcastle Contest, the off-season months can offer smaller crowds, and a laid-back environment for parents with tiny tykes.

Where to eat: You shouldn’t leave without buying a bag of saltwater taffy from Dolle's, sharing a plate of Thrasher Fries, and grabbing a slice from Grotto’s.

Good to know: From May 15 - Sept. 15, bikes are allowed on the boardwalk between the hours of 5 a.m. and 10 a.m.!
