Once upon a time, jam bands meant something different to us than our current situation of jelly-stained back seat kid boppers. But just because we can’t swing Bonnaroo or Coachella like we used to, we can still get our fix of live music without needing to schedule a sitter for our rockstars. BAMcafe - Brooklyn, Ny

BAMcafe is a multi-arts center housed in a "fairy-lit loft" above the Brooklyn Academy of Music and hosts all genres of musicians, film, theatre, dance, and literary events. The current musical line up includes artists in 10 piece jazz and funk ensembles to a Pakistani artist who sings South Asian folk and devotional music. If you're looking in a rich, diverse musical offering to share with your kids, this is it. They also offer a curated BAM Kids program that includes interactive sessions for kids and their grown ups, as well as a kid's film festival and free programming that makes exploring musical tastes together a little less risky.
