Disneyland and LEGOLAND will no doubt be on the vacation wish list, but we’re here to tell you the following museums are giving amusement parks a serious run for their money. From tiny towns to giant locomotives, your kiddos will be begging to stay another day. Click through the gallery below to learn about our favorite spots from across the country.

Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago

Looking for a museum that really revs their STEM engines? Look no further than the Idea Factory at the Museum of Science and Industry. Blending education and play with interactive pulleys and weights, balls and tubes, and some splashable fun on the first floor of this Hyde Park hot spot, this museum is a hands-on hotspot. For babies, there’s a special crawl-and-explore area, and nursing moms will appreciate a dedicated room just for them. And if your kiddos aren't floored by the Idea Factory, the baby chicks, tractors and model trains are a sure bet for satisfying everyone's tastes.
