Disneyland and LEGOLAND will no doubt be on the vacation wish list, but we’re here to tell you the following museums are giving amusement parks a serious run for their money. From tiny towns to giant locomotives, your kiddos will be begging to stay another day. Click through the gallery below to learn about our favorite spots from across the country.

National Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola

The National Naval Aviation Museum is the world’s largest Naval Aviation museum and showcases 150 beautifully restored aircraft from the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard Aviation. Many relics are hung from the rafters, while others are accessible for little pilots to climb in and out of—including a retired Blue Angel as well as flight simulators. While you're there, check out the Kiddie Hawk play area, which is modeled to look like the island of an aircraft carrier complete with fireman’s pole, rope ladders, binoculars, periscopes and the ship’s helm. How many minutes do you think it'll take them to discover the interactive button-activated ship sounds, intercom system, and other mock control panels?
