Does your kid go “Vroom, vroom” with anything even remotely resembling a car? Do you find yourself tripping over mountains of Matchbox cars or trying to make room in your home for yet another Hot Wheels track? Well, it’s time you hit the road and take your budding racecar driver someplace where the cars are bigger than boxes and where he can learn the history behind his favorite set of wheels. Inspire your little auto aficionados at one of these car-themed destinations.

k1 Speed – Multiple Locations

If 16 can’t come fast enough, wannabe drivers can gear up and get behind the wheel of a high performance go kart at K1 Speed, the nation’s largest indoor go karting company. These aren’t your little brother’s Power Wheels cars  Every K1 kart has a 20 horsepower, zero-emission engine that can reach speeds up to 45 mph (20 mph for junior drivers). Bank tight turns, push the pedal through straightaways, and track your placing against fellow racers on the overhead scoreboard. If that’s not enough, most K1 locations host junior karting leagues where your kid can dive into the world of competitive racing.

Good to know There are height restrictions: All drivers must be at least 48” to drive; no passengers allowed.
