It’s the last few weeks of summer, and you’re looking to make screen time a little more educational. We’ve got you covered with 14 mesmerizing apps that do everything from introducing young readers to the alphabet to giving avid readers a never-ending supply of fresh material. Flip through the slideshow to see them all.

Hoopla

Hoopla is an app that lets you check out e-books with ease from home, using your library card. Bigger readers will find the super-popular Percy Jackson series, and the younger set will flip for Sesame Street and Moana e-books. As a bonus, the app's Kids Mode gives parents the chance to filter out content that's not for littles. And, it's all free!

Good to know: not all libraries in the US and Canada offer Hoopla, and you can only sign up if your library has decided to use the service.

Available on iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon, free.
