Get ready to shed a few tears as you do the dishes over your apron sink. Chip and Joanna Gaines are officially hanging up their hats saying goodbye to Fixer Upper. The couple just announced that the next season will be their last.
The fifth season of HGTV’s hit series Fixer Upper is set to premiere in November and as Chip and Joanna Gaines just revealed in a blog post, the season will be their final one. “While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with,” the couple wrote in their post. The move shouldn’t come as a huge surprise considering how massive their Magnolia empire has grown since the show premiered. Most recently the duo signed on for a design collaboration of epic proportions creating an affordable home line for Target.
Don’t worry too much about how you’ll fulfill your shiplap fix, though, Joanna already announced plans for a Fixer Upper spin-off earlier this year. The show, titled Behind the Design, will premiere soon after the last season of Fixer Upper begins. The series will focus more on how those farmhouse-style designs are concocted, Joanna explained in an Instagram video, “you get a more inside scoop of how we came up with a lot of the decisions and the design elements we got to incorporate.”
