We all want to nurture our babies’ cognitive, emotional and physical development, but we don’t always know how to do it. Are we saying and doing the right things? What should we ask other caregivers to do with our child? If you’re asking yourself questions like these, the free app and online tool Braiby can be an important addition to your toolkit.
How It Works
This free early-childhood development platform suggests easy, fun activities you or other caregivers can do with your child throughout the day. The activities, or “acties” as Braiby calls them, involve engaging with your child in everyday tasks like changing a diaper or exploring common items found in the bathroom or kitchen.
Yes, it’s really that simple. Talking to your child and letting them see, feel, smell and taste their way through their environment teaches them about math, language, science, critical thinking, biology and art. Plus, it helps develop emotional connections between baby and caregiver. And it’s never too early to start. The activities are appropriate to use the day your child is born.
How You Get It
When you sign up for the web tool or download the app, you’ll get access to the daily sensory activities, which are listed as short descriptions of things to do and say. Some of them require a little prep work, like gathering books or household objects. But the activities are easy to master and then share with your child.
Note: There’s no screen time for babies involved. You’ll read about the activity and then engage with your child. The platform also include more general parenting tips and advice if you’re looking for more guidance.
