The witchy power of Charmed gave us three sisters (okay, four if you count Shannen Doherty’s Prue and the Halliwell’s half-sister replacement Paige Matthews (Rose McGowan). It may not have been a filmic masterpiece, but come on — you know you loooooved the supernatural stories that featured demons, whitelighters and a cast of otherworldly characters. Like all good things, Charmed eventually came to an end. But now it’s one of the many shows getting a reboot. Oh, and not everyone is charmed by it.
When the CW recently announced that a Charmed reboot was in the works, Holly Marie Combs (who played Piper on the original show) took to Twitter, posting, “We wish them well. #Charmed.” Sounds nice enough. Right? Well, the tweets didn’t end there.
Combs later added, “Here’s the thing. Until you ask us to rewrite it like Brad Kern did weekly don’t even think of capitalizing on our hard work.” But wait, that’s not all. Continuing in her tweet, Combs wrote, “Charmed belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans. FYI You will not fool them by owning a title/stamp. So bye.”
Hmm. It looks like the so-called “feminist reboot” of the original may not get a guest appearance by at least one Halliwell sister.
