If kids ruled the world, every day would start and end with dessert. Who votes for apple pie? Yep — it’s the season for the tart and sweet treat, and if you don’t have time to whip up your own, local restaurants and pie shops have you covered. Flip through our album to find out where you can get the best.

A Real Do-Gooder: First Slice Pie Cafe

This non-profit bakery funds a soup kitchen, so you can feel good about indulging. Pie is a food that’s meant to be shared, and with each one purchased you’re helping First Slice provide 600 meals a week to people who struggle with hunger and homelessness. Apple is this spot's year-round favorite flavor and enjoyed in hundreds of homes during the holidays (psst ... they start taking holiday orders on October 15). Under the tender, flaky top crust lies nearly five pounds of layers of cinnamon-y Granny Smith apples.
