For Sheer Variety: Doughnut Vault

Our Fave: Any Old-Fashioned

Why We’re Sweet on It: Buttermilk. Pistachio. Coconut Cream. Toasted Almond. Triple Chocolate. Lemon Poppyseed. Plus, a special flavor that rotates daily: Recents include Moka with cacao nibs, Root Beer, and Chestnut. Case closed.

The Digs:
Franklin: It’s even smaller than you’d think. But we parents go crazy over anything coming out of a vault (limited-edition Disney movies, anyone?), so strap your little one in a baby carrier and brave the close quarters—this one has the most variety, including fritters and glazed yeasts.

Canal: Seating! Glorious seating! Tucked in a corporate building across from the French Market, this new café space is gigantic in comparison. Note that this location only carries old-fashioned donuts, but offers a full espresso bar — perfect for gramming your daily cortado.

Vault Van: If you can’t, or won’t, pack up the kids and make the trip downtown, cross your fingers that the sweet stuff will stop by your hood. Track the van on Twitter, or check the Tumblr site for the tentative weekly schedule.

Perks: Your favorite is likely to sell out quickly, so follow DV on Twitter or Facebook to stay abreast of their inventory.
