Jen Peterson

We aren’t sure where he picked it up, but our son has been begging to go apple picking since July. We are regulars at our farmers market and once apples began to appear, the insistence on going apple picking increased. Last weekend we decided it was the perfect weekend for apple picking. We wanted a farm that offered a simple apple picking experience (not a lot of petting zoos, games, etc.) and discovered Garden Patch Farms in Homer Glen. While Garden Patch Farms does have a bounce house, other than that it is a pretty straightforward apple picking (and hay riding and chicken feeding and apple cider donut eating) experience. It was such a hit that my son asked if we could go back next weekend! Whether you pick apples or pumpkins (or any other fresh produce), get out there and enjoy a little farm life before the cold weather returns!
