Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago

“Amazing and unique hands-on experiences await you and your kids at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago (MSI)—the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere and home to thousands of exhibits, artifacts and “wow” family moments that last a lifetime. For more than 80 years, with its mission to “inspire the inventive genius in everyone,” MSI has been a premier destination in Chicago for engaging fun for all ages.

Our youngest scientists love discovering the fun, interactive experiences MSI has to offer. From learning about simple machines in the Idea Factory, to seeing 1,500 tiny treasures in the elaborate and remarkable Colleen Moore’s Fairy Castle, witnessing more 20 model trains weave their way from Chicago to Seattle in The Great Train Story, to watching precious baby chicks peck out of their shells in the Baby Chick Hatchery—the little ones will be inspired, educated and entertained.

Older kids will be fascinated by stepping into a real World War II submarine, manipulating a 40-foot indoor tornado, observing lighting strike above them, seeing a film in our five-story domed Omnimax theater, running in a life-sized hamster wheel, and more!

The Museum has been rated one of the “Top 25 Museums in the U.S.” by TripAdvisor, one of the “Top 10 Family Museums” by FamilyFun Magazine, and one of the “Seven Wonders of Chicago” by the Chicago Tribune. MSI is open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas day. For more information and easy visit planning tools, go to msichicago.org.”
