What it is: If your kid loves all creatures great and small, check out the Nature Museum Summer Camp. The museum gives kids ages four to eleven the chance to explore local habitats in a fab summer camp environment that guarantees plenty of time in the great (urban) outdoors. Hands-on science activities, music, movement, journaling, nature play, engineering activities and art projects using natural and recycled materials make this camp both fun and educational.

The details: Nature Museum Summer Camp runs from Jul. 3-Aug. 25, in bi-weekly sessions. Hours vary by age group, with camp sessions available for kids from 4-11 years old. Camp is held at Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park. Visit naturemuseum.org to register.
