Chicago Hot Dog Fest
This year’s fest will feature food from an array of local hot dog vendors, live music covering hits from the 60’s through the 90’s, family-friendly activities and appearances from history-wielding hot dog experts. Families can ketchup on quality time with crafts, face-painting, rides and kids can dec themselves out like hot dogs and mug for the camera. Held Fri. & Sat., 11 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sun., 11 a.m.-8 p.m. at Chicago History Museum. Kids Day at Sherwood Community Music School 
This kid-tastic Columbia College of Chicago music school is opening a variety of group classes so families can experience their offerings firsthand. No experience is necessary to explore any of their music, dance, theatre and visual arts classes that include a piano lab, rhythm exploration with hand drums, nature-inspired crafts and a puppet theater. The Bears Family Fest
see head coach John Cox and the 2015 Bears gear up for the first time at Soldier Field. Festivities outside the stadium begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Bears practice and team scrimmage at 11:35 a.m. Families can enjoy interactive games, alumni autographs, giveaways, live music and more. Held Sat., 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. $8-$12/person. Millennium Park Family Fun Fest
Yay! It’s back for a summer of interactive activities, sing-a-longs and circle dances from Old Town School of Folk, delightful story times, and arts and crafts for kids of all ages. Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” Musical
Venture under the sea with spunky Ariel and her saltwater-loving friends on an adventure to find true love with the handsome Prince Eric. Based on the full-length Broadway musical, this 75-minute production features special opportunities for audiences to interact with the actors for photos and chit-chat. Held thru Aug. 16 at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. $34/adult; $22/ages 12 & under. Ages 5 & up. Cirque du Soleil: KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities
Performed under the iconic blue and yellow Big Top, this is a tale in which time comes to a halting stop, transporting audiences inside a fantasy world where everything is possible. Let your imaginations soar as The Seeker, a time machine wielding scientist, defies the laws of time, space and dimension in order to reinvent the world around him with steampunk elements featuring characters from another dimension.
