Say ‘I Love You’ with LEGOs
If LEGOs are one of your kid’s loves (after you, of course), bring them to Room and Board to spend Valentine’s Day eve with LEGO Man. Guests of all ages can build their own designs from thousands of bricks and create their own Valentine’s Day paper crafts. Healthy snacks will be on hand for hungry builders. Event details.
Experiment at Family Science Days
Explore interactive science exhibits, learn about cool science jobs, and have your burning questions answered by scientists! As part of the AAAS Annual Meeting, this free community science showcase features hands-on demos, shows, and other activities appropriate for K-12 children and their families. Event details.
Open Studio: Love in Every Language
Enjoy a digital slideshow of images of love in Asian art, create Valentine’s Day cards using woodblock prints that say “love” in more than a dozen Asian languages, and fold heart-shaped origami. There’s no room for boredom here. Event details.
Dancing Through Africa
Experience three exciting South African cultures through dance: traditional Ndlamu dance from Zulu villages, the moves and percussive sounds of Gumboot, slapped out on gold miners’ rubber boots, and Pantsula, an upbeat urban dance much like American hip-hop but with a cultural twist. Of course, audience members will be encouraged to get up and dance! Event details.
Kids’ Night: For the Love of Science
Do your kids love science? This is the perfect opportunity to give them a special night at their favorite science museum! During this special evening, kids will enjoy dinner with new friends, experience Valentine’s themed activities, make a cool gift to take home for someone special and have complete access to all of The Lab’s exhibit areas, including the Discovery Zone, normally off-limits to the under 10 set. Event details.
‘James and the Giant Peach’
When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion which results in a tremendous peach…and launches a journey of enormous proportions. Bonus: The score is by a TONY Award-nominated team of composers. Event details.
