On Tuesday, April 25, on her official birthdate, the Smithsonian will mark the centennial of accomplished singer, jazz icon, and “First Lady of Song,” Ella Fitzgerald (1917-1996) with artifacts and photographs from the collections. This program connects with a new display the museum currently has open “First Lady of Song: Ella Fitzgerald at 100.”
