Do you dig Fort Vancouver? Kids Digs introduce kids ages 8-12 to the fascinating world of archaeology at one of the Northwest's most famous archaeological sites! Kids excavate a site with the help of park staff and volunteers, and discover what we can learn about our past from the stuff buried under our feet! Space is limited to 20 kids. Digs take place at 10:30 AM and 2:00 PM, and last for approximately an hour. The 56th Army Band, which is affectionately referred to as "America's Corps Band", is assigned to I Corps, stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The band provides musical support for the Corps, as well as the surrounding communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. Performing over 600 missions annually we truly are the "Heartbeat of America's Corps." The 56th Army Band’s Mission: To provide music supporting unified land operation and instill in our forcese the will to fight and win, foster the support of our citizens, and promote America's interests at home and abroad. Army Music serves as a combat multiplier and plays an integral part in the sustainment of forces engaged in unified land operations. Through world-class musical ceremonies and performances, the I Corps Army Band helps create bonds between the United States Army and thhe Pacific Northwest community. Using music to bridge language, cultural, societal, and socio-economic differences, the Bannd's performances strengthen local community relationships and inspire positive and long-lasting impressions of the United States Army. This is the ninth of ten weekly, free noontime performances which feature a wide variety of performers and styles. Suitable for all ages. NOONTIME SHOWCASE & SUMMER ARTS ON MAIN STREET During July and August, Noontime Showcase- a monthly free performance held inside Antoinette Hatfield Hall during most of the year- moves out to Main Street and changes to a weekly schedule. This Noontime Showcase is part of the 2016 Summer Arts on Main Street series, which runs 11am to 2pm every Wednesday from July 6 to September 7, with free performances, children’s activities, and outdoor booths featuring local artisans selling handmade crafts. Summer Arts on Main Street runs concurrently with the Portland Farmers Market in the adjacent park blocks (Shemanski Park at Park Ave. & Main St.). Located outside on SW Main Street, between SW Broadway & Park Ave.- next to Antoinette Hatfield Hall, 1111 SW Broadway Ave., Portland, OR 97205. In the event of rain, or extreme heat, this event will take place in the Antoinette Hatfield Hall rotunda.
