Most kids love the idea of Santa in theory (a jolly elf bringing gifts. Sweet!). But, when push comes to shove, and they are forced to to get up close and personal with a stranger with prickly whiskers, funky breath, chanting, ho-ho-ho, the results are somewhat predictable. Below are some of our favorite Santa pictures submitted by Red Tricycle readers. Get ready for a big-belly chuckle just like the big guys in red himself.

Petyon-Santa

Peyton’s mom, Jessica sends us this photo of her daughter in 2013. We don’t think Peyton quite enjoyed her Santa visit as much as her mom.

Here's 14 month old Tess with Santa.

Here’s 14 month old Tess with Santa.

Red Tricycle Reader Dandi: “This is my daughter, Delaney, who will be 4 next week. We finally got a good picture this year…although 2010 is still my favorite”

Red Tricycle Reader Kindra: “I think my favorite part about this picture is that my son Dylan is laughing and pointing at his little sister Abby. Not to mention Santa’s face says it all, “It’s all in a days work!”

Jennifer writes to Red Tricycle, “Apparently visiting Santa in the summer was just too creepy for our little one, whilst our eldest was focused on the candy cane the photographer was waving”

Red Tricycle readers Susan says, “I’m sure it’s because he’s my kid, but I just crack up every time I see him “high-fiving” Santa while crying huge crocodile tears”

“Kailynn was excited to see Santa while we were in line, but as soon as she sat on his lap, she was terrified! They snapped a quick picture and I grabbed her, hoping she wouldn’t be scarred for life!!” writes Red Tricycle reader Jeannie.

Hao writes to us, “They were a hot mess.” We have to agree!

Amber’s little man is not a huge fan of sitting on Santa’s lap!

Red Tricycle reader Jacob writes, “Here’s a photo for your consideration. It was taken this year with my three-and-a-half-year-old and my two-and-a-half-month-old sons. As you can see they are on the opposite sides of the spectrum regarding their enjoyment of the photo shoot! And Santa is checked out.”

Marta writes to us, “This is my daughter Taylor during her last visit with Santa.”

Red Tricycle reader Beverly says, “I think the best part is the look on the my older daughter’s face, she’s appalled that her sister would scream at Santa.”

Red Tricycle reader Molly sent us this photo. She says, “This picture is from the other night of my middle daughter, Paige who had begged to have her picture with Santa at a tree lighting and then insisted that Dad had to be with her. Neither of her sisters would get closer than 10 feet. It’s an improvement over last year when they would only be on the top floor of the mall looking down at him.”

This 17-month old’s first visit to Santa wasn’t a very happy one. Awww…
