When the cold weather hits all you crave is a warm hearty dish. This ghoulash recipe is dubbed by Jenn of Slim’ Shoppin as comfort in a bowl. Her mom made this simple recipe and Jenn carries on the tradition whipping it up almost every month for her fam.

Ingredients:
1 lb. ground beef – Jenn uses 94% fat free sirloin
1 green pepper, chopped fine
1 small white onion, chopped fine
3 cloves of garlic, chopped,
1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Dash of salt, pepper
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. dried basil
3 cups uncooked whole wheat elbow macaroni.

Method:
1. Cook the macaroni for 10-11 minutes (until al dente) drain and set aside.

2. In a big pot, add the peppers and onion and garlic and cook on low, stirring occasionally for 3 minutes.

3. Add the ground beef, breaking the meat into smaller pieces until the meat is no longer pink.

4. Add the can of tomatoes and spices and cooked macaroni, stir well and simmer on the stove for 10 minutes.
