Classes are back in session at the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! Join in the magic of Year 5 as you get ready to hit the books—and wands—with new content in the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery mobile game.
Fans of the Wizarding World mobile app will be excited to learn that all-new content has just rolled out for the game. Returning students who have completed the first four “years” of school in the RPG-style game can return to Hogwarts once again to complete their fifth year of magical studies.

Those who earned their prefect badge in Year 4 will be given extra responsibilities as they take on their new roles as prefects. And all Year 5 students will face tougher challenges this year as they prepare to take their Ordinary Wizarding Levels (O.W.L.) exams.
For the uninitiated, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a mobile app game that allows players to get fully immersed in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter by attending school at Hogwarts. Students receive an acceptance letter when they first begin and can create an avatar of their own. They’ll get sorted by the Sorting Hat, attend classes and of course, face a few uncomfortable run-ins with Professor Snape.
Besides studying, players are also challenged to solve some mysteries. In Year 5, for example, players will be introduced to a mysterious new Defense of the Dark Arts Professor and find themselves exploring new areas after school, like Knockturn Alley.
“Year 5 is a pivotal year for any student at Hogwarts, with the O.W.L. exams looming, new professors to navigate, and for some, a prefect badge on their robes,” said Amanda Heaton, Executive Producer at Jam City. “We wanted to reflect the rigors of this year in the mobile game, balanced of course, with the core extra-curricular activity at Hogwarts: unraveling mysterious with your school mates. Year 5 brings the most robust year of content yet to the game, and we’re excited for players to start this new chapter.”
Wands up, students!
