While your mini Elsas and Annas anxiously anticipate the Frozen sequel, a new Broadway show will be landing in 2018 to tide them over. This is sure to be the hottest ticket since Hamilton (at least among the playground set.)
With it’s epic songs, ice castles, and ball gowns, Frozen was made for the stage. As the show’s producer, Thomas Schumacher, explains in the video when he initially saw Frozen for the first time, he couldn’t help but think that he was watching a perfect Broadway musical. Adapting for the stage, however, requires some additions, namely more songs. While the movie features seven songs total, the stage production has a whopping 21 songs that your tiny fans are sure to be singing day and night.
The theatrical production of Frozen is getting ready to debut its preview at the Buell Theatre in the Denver Center for the Performing Arts where it will run until October. It will then be Broadway-bound for a run beginning in the Spring of 2018. The cast of stage vets and newcomers includes Caissie Levy (Les Miserables, Wicked, Hairspray) as Elsa and Patti Murin (Wicked) as Anna.
