No trip to a fair or farmer’s market is complete without a bag of kettle corn. Now you can get that freshly popped perfect mix of sweet and salty right in your own home. The key is to add more oil than you would with regular corn and shake, shake, shake. Read on for the easiest kettle corn recipe ever.

You will need:

1/4  cooking oil (we love using coconut oil for this recipe)

1/2 cup popping corn kernels

1/4 cup white sugar

1/4 tsp salt

Mix together the sugar and salt and set aside.

Add the oil to a pan (at least 3 quart or larger) first and place over medium high heat. Add one single kernel to the oil, cover the pan with a lid and wait for it to pop. (If using solidified coconut oil, let it melt first completely before adding kernel.) Once it’s popped, add the rest of the corn to the pan. Very quickly add the sugar and salt mixture, being sure to cover all the kernels evenly. Cover with lid.

Shake gently as the corn begins to pop. Continue to shake to be sure and coat all the kernels with the sugar/salt mix. Once the popping has stopped remove from heat.

Bam! You’ve got kettle corn.
