Red Tricycle: Congratulations! Your community recently voted you “Most Awesome”. What do you think your customers value most about your business?

Arno Yesayan: We provide durable and sophisticated storage furniture for children and care deeply about satisfying each of our customers’ needs, which are unique to their family dynamics. Parents love that we offer three whimsical animal shapes and five popular colors to coordinate with their furniture & décor. Our passion for high quality furniture is evident through our versatile “Mobile Dress-Up Closet” and more recently, our new “Mobile Children’s Bookcase” – all of which are designed and manufactured in the U.S.A. Parents who own our closet or bookcase enjoy knowing that they are contributing to their child’s sense of responsibility and independence by allowing them to organize their own belongings. Parents also love the fact that our products are versatile for every stage of their child’s life!

RT: What inspired you to start your business?

AY: The whole story started with my son. My son was the first child in our family, so everyone wanted to do something special. My father in-law, being in the furniture business for the past 20 years, came up with the idea of making a mobile closet that would have a drawer for storage, double-sided shoe rack and a chrome rod to hang clothes. As a first-time parent, I remember spending many hours with my wife, shopping for our child’s dream nursery. During all those times I never saw something unique like the “Mobile Dress-Up Closet”. After we used the product for a couple months and felt its importance and the necessity, we decided that we had to patent my father in-law’s idea and open up a new company, “Ace Baby Furniture”. Ace Baby Furniture manufactures baby furniture that is not only stylish, but also easy-to-assemble, simple to clean and highly versatile from the nursery, toddler’s playroom, and to the child’s bedroom.

RT: Any advice for new business owners just getting started?

AY: As a new business owner, I commend you for wanting to bring a product or service into today’s market and wish you the very best. Here are three things that have helped me tremendously in my business venture: (1) Believe in what you’re selling; (2) Know your industry’s competition; and most importantly, (3) Identify your customers’ needs and wants! Once I resolved all of the above, I was able to focus clearly on what parents were looking for, and how I can meet their expectations through strategic planning, diligent implementation, and most importantly, through a winning attitude and spirit. In addition to these points, I urge new business owners to invest their time in finding quality employees and vendors to work with. Once you find them – work hard to keep them! From my experiences, people who share similar principles and values as you will almost always meet and exceed your expectations.

RT: Can you give us one tip for balancing entrepreneurship with parenthood?

AY: Just one tip: choose the right partner in life! I would not be able to balance my business and family day-in and day-out if it wasn’t for my wife. She has been my biggest fan, greatest supporter and the most amazing mother to our child.

RT: What is your proudest moment as a business owner or parent?

AY: The most rewarding part of my job is hearing from other parents who have strengthened their relationships with their families. Simple and everyday activities like organizing and storing-away clothes, shoes, and toys can bring tremendously valuable and memorable to children. Without realizing it, parents are spending quality time with their kids just by working alongside them and watching them make strides toward learning responsibility and independence. Receiving such positive and enthusiastic feedback from our customers makes me incredibly proud as a business owner and parent.

RT: Is there a special offer you’d like to include for Red Tricycle readers?

AY: Yes! To show our gratitude to the Red Tricycle community, we’d like to offer readers 10% off your entire purchase on our online store: www.acebabyfurniture.com. Use Checkout Code “REDTRI10” to receive discount.
