After joking that she might go into labor on a recent episode of The Ellen Show, Kate Hudson gave birth to her third child, a daughter, on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Hudson and musician boyfriend Danny Fujikawa shared the news with fans on her Instagram account. The world also learned Hudson’s baby girl’s name—and the meaning will make you melt.
Baby girl Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa is the first child between Hudson and Fujikawa, who have been together for nearly two years. Hudson has two older sons, Ryder (14) and Bingham (6) from two previous relationships.
Rani—pronounced “Ronnie—is named after her paternal grandfather, Ron Fujikawa. “Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly,”Hudson wrote on Instagram. “To name her after him is an honor.” Before they started dated, Hudson and Fujikawa had known each other for over a decade through mutual friends.
Hudson goes on to share that the entire family is “as happy as can be” and thanks fans for the well wishes. While we totally get the couple’s need for privacy, we can’t help but be excited to see some pictures of sweet, baby Rani!
