Kelly Clarkson recently got real about parenting. Okay, so she’s typically pretty real. But during a TCA (Television Critics Association) panel for The Voice she gave some pretty awesome advice. Sure, she could have made it seem like parenting is easy. After all, she’s a celeb and has advantages that the rest of us regular ol’ folks don’t. But apparently her celebrity status doesn’t win her any favor in the parenting arena.

So what’s Clarkson’s secret for success? Umm, wine. The super-talented singer admitted (of her kids), “They are challenging.” She went on to add, “Wine is necessary. They’re great though. Out of the mouths of babes. They say stuff when you’re like “Damn.’ They call you out.” Oh, but that’s not all. She also noted, “They teach me.”

As it turns out Clarkson is more like the rest of us than we thought. When three-year-old River Rose and 21-month-old Remington Alexander are more than she can deal with (which happens to us all), it looks like she’s all about the vino.

Yeah, Clarkson may joke about how wine helps her to make it through the tough times. But she totally appreciates her cute kiddos. During the TCA panel she also said, “I know this sounds silly, but kids teach you to be a better human. They’re watching every moment, not only me at home but me sitting here with y’all.”
