Lonely Planet has just revealed their list of the best destinations for next year. If you’re planning your family vacation for the new year, you’re going to want to want to check out their picks for the best new attractions for kids in 2019 before you book your trip.
LEGO House (Billund, Denmark)
The LEGO House is entire museum dedicated to those iconic bricks, focused on encouraging creativity and learning through hands-on experiences. Need we say more? Okay we will, because their is even more awesomeness to encounter at the "House of Brick.”
The Masterpiece Gallery is exactly what it sounds like, an art exhibit comprised entirely of works of LEGO. There is also the History Collection, which will teach mini master builders everything they’ve ever wanted to know about the origin of the plastic brick.
Sports Legends Experience (Indianapolis, Indiana)
Calling all sports fans! If your junior athlete is a fan of the game, any game, then the Sports Legends Experience is where you need to be. Part of the incredible Indianapolis Children’s Museum, this new exhibition is a fully immersive experience in physical fitness and sports history. Just a few of the 15 activities include climbing inside the 25-foot Tree of Sports, practicing drills like an NFL linebacker and race each other on a mini Motor Speedway.
Dippy on Tour (Around the United Kingdom)
Dino lovers will never forget meeting Dippy, the diplodocus. Formerly on display at London’s Natural History Museum, this world-famous cast of a diplodocus is now taking a tour around the United Kingdom with several stops in cities including the Ulster Museum in Belfast, Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, Newcastle and Cardiff.
If a trip to the other side of the pond is on your to-do list make sure you check to see what city Dippy will be visiting while you’re there.
Sloth Preserve (Arenal Volcano National Park, Costa Rica)
Sloths are currently the hippest animal since the llama, so if you’ve got sloth emblazoned everything at home, why not take your kiddos to check out the real deal. The Nayara Hotel, a luxury resort in the Arenal Volcano National Park, has planted a grove of 300 cecropia trees to create a preserve for sloths. It is currently home to 15 sloths and growing.
Besides these adorable creatures, there are dozens of wildlife species to explore while visiting the resort, as well as canopy tours and a lava field walk.
Live Wire Park (Victoria, Australia)
If your family loves to get outdoors and explore nature, then look no further for your next vacay. At the Live Wire Park kids ages seven to 15 can participate in the Short Circuit that includes zip lining, suspended trails, obstacles courses and more, all in the treetops.
Driving School at Tayto Park (Ashbourne, Ireland)
Does your tyke have a need for speed? At the Driving School at Tayto Park in Ireland they won’t have to for their driver’s license to get behind the wheel. Unlike many other driving-style attractions for kids, these mini cars are trackless, which means the kids really get to maneuver around the road entirely in their own.
The Driving School is just the latest attraction at the sprawling theme park and zoo, which is themed around the popular Irish potato chips of the same name.
Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge (Anaheim, California)
If the force is strong your house, then chances are the entire family is overly ecstatic about the debut of Disneyland’s highly anticipate new addition. This epic new land will make you feel like you’ve left earth and landed on a distant planet. From the Millennium Falcon ride to drinks at an actual Star Wars-themed cantina there is something to fulfill the dreams of every Star Wars fan in your family, young and old.
