Figuring out how to fit in exercise when you’re juggling kids at home is tougher than taxes. So strap ‘em in the stroller, use them as weights or stretch alongside each other – you’ve got a new workout buddy!
Baby Boot Camp
With a range of classes to choose from, you’ll definitely find something you like. Strollfit is the most popular option, and incorporates cardio drills, strength training, ab work and stretches for an all-over work-out. If you’re feeling like a few sun poses will make your day, try out Strollga – yep, you guessed it: a yoga class that uses the stroller as a prop to enable that powerful Warrior pose. There’s also a group called Stroller Friends, which is a great way to meet local moms who are interested in a healthy lifestyle.
If you’re looking for a family friendly, super inclusive and down to earth work-out, then check out T.O.T. Fitness. The 60-minute Mommy & Me classes are held at neighborhood parks and include circuit training, using the park’s landscape like stairs, hills and more. Each class is slightly different, so you’ll never get bored. Kids spend part of the time in the stroller and some of the work-out running around with the parents. It’s a great way to socialize and turn that park play-date into a calorie melting meet-up. Plus, the founder Farrah is bubbly, vivacious and totally understands what it’s like to juggle personal fitness and parenthood. She lost her baby weight teaching her classes, and sometimes takes her kids along – they love doing burpees!

As Red Tricycle’s Most Awesome Fitness Award winner two years in a row, Fit Happens really knows their stuff. And you can’t have any excuses, since they’ll come to you! Finally got the kiddo into a nap routine? How about burning off that morning croissant instead of surfing online at nap time. (But do come back after your workout and surf Red Tricycle, for more great ideas…) Or have them come to your office during lunch break. If you prefer attending the bootcamp classes, they will provide a babysitter while you sculpt yourself into a lean, mean Mommy machine.
This fitness class thoughtfully includes your kids into the workout. You’ll sing entertaining songs and play games, all while using the stroller as a prop to sculpt and strengthen your body. Your little one will feel engaged and stimulated while you feel the burn – making you one multi-tasking mama. You’ll also gain an immediate friend group, which can be particularly encouraging for new moms who may need extra motivation to get out of the house. Classes are offered all over LA, just search your zip-code on the website to find one near you.

The goal at this fitness studio isn’t to offer typical childcare for your kids, but to provide a place for parents to bring their kids where everyone is participating in fitness (just not together). So while Mom takes the signature class (Rev It Up!), rooftop yoga, or adult Zumba, kids can take the kiddo Zumba class or get active with the rock climbing wall, crawling tunnels or other pint-sized fitness activities. Because everyone in the family needs to be active and fit.
