Palm Trees and Dreams at LACMA Family Sunday

when: every Sunday at 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

where: Los Angeles County Museum of Art, 5900 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, Ca

cost: Free

ages: All Ages

add to calendar: Google   iCal/Outlook

the scoop:

Chicano artist Carlos Almaraz painted Los Angeles through color and movement. Get to know him and his art in the exhibition: Playing with Fire: Paintings by Carlos Almaraz. Be inspired to include iconic L.A. imagery like palm trees, and SoCal freeways in your art.

And while you’re at the museum, don’t miss Chris Burden’s kinetic sculpture, Metropolis II. Kids can sit mesmerized for ages at this whizzing, whirring mass. It’s in action every Sunday (Fridays and Saturdays, too.)

LACMA’s Andell Family Sundays are programs designed especially for families: make art, look at art, and talk about art together in workshops and bilingual gallery tours. Most of all—have fun.

The program is free with admission, and kids always get free admission for themselves and an accompanying adult with the LACMA NexGen program! Please remember that all children must be accompanied by an adult.
