The kids get to go to camp… but why don’t we? And not family camp (though this one is amazing) where you are with your kids, but camp where parents get to do arts & crafts, sports, hang out with friends, eat endlessly and have a fabulous time, without a care in the world. While it might not be possible to check out of your life & responsibilities for a whole week, here’s how you can create a camp experience for yourself, one activity at a time.

Forget Bug Juice

It’s time for Mama Juice. Whether you meet your besties post-bedtime or want a date night with your honey, we recommend Gracias Madre in West Hollywood for a beautiful patio, the best margaritas in town (and other tequila based drinks, like the boozy snow cone: how adult summer camp is that?) and food that won’t fight with your skimpier summer wear. If tequila gives you college flashbacks in a bad way, opt for the gorgeous Ester’s Wine Shop & Bar in Santa Monica. There you can sip in a beautiful room or out on the patio, choosing from a gorgeous selection of wines and accompanying cheese and charcuterie plates.

If your kids aren’t in camp and you gotta bring ‘em…
Luckily, there are lots of spots where you can bring your kids while you relax with a drink. These wine bars, beer spots and margarita joints all are super welcoming for kids. If you want to actually have someone else watch your kids while you dine and sip, we love the au pair service at Au Fudge.
