Every day in LA is a good day for ice cream but all those trips to the scoop shop can be killer on your waistline. Luckily, there’s a new place in town where you won’t feel guilty digging into a bowl of cool, creamy goodness right along with your tots. Halo Top, the same company that makes having dessert on a diet seem like a dream come true, has just opened its first location right here in LA. Check out what makes this place so sweet!

The Scoop
For the uninitiated, Halo Top has quickly grown in popularity as a low-fat ice cream that contains fewer calories in an entire pint than a single scoop of its competitors. And while those diet-friendly pints are readily available in the freezer section of most grocery stores, there hasn’t been a retail spot to enjoy a full-size cone of this delightful treat…until now. The first Halo Top Creamery might just be a small stand on the second floor of the Topanga Westfield Mall but what it lacks in size, it makes up for it by packing in plenty of tasty options.

Place Your Order
The creamery menu, in addition to seasonal selections, features several of their best-selling flavors, including vanilla bean, cinnamon roll, red velvet, caramel macchiato and pancakes & waffles. They also offer something you won’t find in any supermarket: soft serve options in flavors like vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, pistachio, peanut butter, and cake batter. These gluten-free options come in at 100 calories or less per 4 oz. serving.

After you’ve picked your flavor, you “Choose Your Ride” or basically a fancy way of saying how you’d like your ice cream to be served. You can go with the basic paper cup but if you feel like jazzing things up a bit, pick from a cake cone, a sugar cone, a traditional waffle cone or their signature “puffle” cone, which is a freshly made, Belgian waffle batter cone.

But wait, that’s not all! If you really want to step up your frozen dessert game, choose a waffle taco shell (yaaas!) or build an ice cream sandwich using their high-protein cookies. And last, but definitely not least, there’s a full buffet of toppings—from traditional sprinkles and chocolate chips to Nerds and Pocky Sticks—you can add it all.

The Delicious Details
A single scoop in a cup or basic cone (which is more than enough for kids and grown-ups) starts at $4.95. Adding scoops, upgrading your cone and adding yummy toppings all come at an extra cost. Once you’ve paid, grab a seat at the small section of tables nearby or stroll through the mall and enjoy your treat while you window shop. FYI: The shop doesn’t sell anything other than ice cream so if you need a drink, the food court is right around the corner.
