Chumash Day Powwow
20th Annual Chumash Day Powwow will celebrate Native Americans from all over the country, representing hundreds of tribes who will gather at Malibu Bluffs Park. Native American food, craft vendors, tribal ceremonies, and dances will be a part of the event on both days. Free admission, parking and shuttle service to and from the event. No public parking onsite. Parking and shuttle service will be available on the corner of Webb Way and Civic Center Way. Sat.-Sun. Event details.

7th Annual Otis Kite Festival
Otis College of Art and Design will host the 7th Annual Otis Kite Festival, directly north of the Santa Monica Pier.This festival has blossomed into a wonderful family event focused on serving children throughout Los Angeles and Santa Monica. Every child who attends receives his or her own DIY kite kit inclusive of a color theory art lesson. Creating the kites also ties into STEAM education in addition to being a community art experience for the children. Mista Cookie Jar Mini-Concert
LA-based “kindie rocker,” Mista Cookie Jar, brings his urban-island-folky-rock-&-roll sounds to Children’s Book World. Metro Art Presents the second concert in the North Patio series, featuring local Los Angeles-based artists El Rio in Union Station’s tranquil North Patio. El Rio is a musical partnership and quintet founded by Melissa Uribe and Bryan Diaz. Inspired by the urban and natural landscapes and life of the Los Angeles River, the Arroyo Seco, and its environs, El Rio describes its work as “revolutionary love music” combining Latin American folk rhythms with lyrics of social justice. Backed by an array of winds, percussion, and both acoustic and electric instrumentation, the vocal melodies and spoken poetry form a visceral spirited dance to evoke thought and change through music side by side with the red tailed hawks that fly above. The Great LA River CleanUp (La Gran Limpieza)!
During Earth Month, join the 29th LA River CleanUp by signing up for the biggest activation in the U.S.! Last year, over 10,000 volunteers, individuals, and groups from all ages and backgrounds demonstrated their passion for the LA River by joining the Friends of LA River (FoLAR) annual CleanUp. The 2018 CleanUp will be held at 9 sites along the River with different locations on each date. Pick a site best for you and your family! Our LA Mermaid School is taught by the very same Finstructors who make a splash in Hollywood with their incredible tricks, techniques, and mesmerizing personalities. In this fun-filled fin-tasy guests will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to be a real Hollywood mermaid or merman and master some of the basic techniques that our world-famous professional mermaids use in TV commercials!
