Downtown

Tiny Dancer and DTLA
The Music Center hosts free dance parties all summer long because the world needs more spontaneous dancing. Dance Downtown takes place every Fri., and each week features a different style of dance, from Salsa to Tango, line dancing to Bollywood. Beginner lessons take place throughout the evening. The event is free and no tickets or RSVP’s are required and music will be provided by DJ and/or live band. Fri. Event details.

The Idyllwild Arts Foundation presents the 2018 Summer Culmination Concert of the Boarding Arts High School Summer Chamber Festival Orchestra and Festival Choir & Ensemble of Idyllwild Arts. The program will feature over 150 young students, given the chance to fuel their dreams and perform on Walt Disney Concert Hall’s world-class stage, home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic. As a true youth-only orchestra and choir, the performance will showcase some of the most talented high school students from around the world, ranging from 13-to-18 years old, playing legendary classical works. The featured repertoire will include Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier Suite and The Journey of Harriet Tubman by Ron Kean, which students will perform under the masterful batons of Maestros Larry Livingston, Dr. Joseph Modica, and Assistant Conductor Sey Ahn. Ruth and Emilia Mini-Concert
Experience a children’s album like no other! When a shiny spaceship lands in Emilia’s backyard, she meets URR, from planet Goopda, who has traveled here to promote universal peace. The two learn about working together, acceptance of others, and making the world a better place as they sing their way through the day’s adventures. Mother/daughter duo Ruth and Emilia perform the show version of their new album, The Spaceship that Fell in My Backyard. The album has won a Family Choice Award, Tilywig Tons of Fun Award, NAPPA award, Global Music Award, and a Hot Diggity Award for outstanding family products! Sat. Event details.
