The BeatBASH is the first of its kind musical event bringing together families from across greater Los Angeles. The pop-up carnival will feature a day of rides, sponsored activity stations, and crafts. Best of all there will be a 60-minute performance by the popular children’s group, The BeatBuds. The BeatBuds are dedicated to exercising minds through music and have started a revolution among kids and families. Sun. Event details.
Central 25 Celebration
Join Central Library for a day of fun as they celebrate the 25th anniversary of Central Library’s grand reopening in 1993! Grab some swag including a free commemorative enamel pin! Work with Therman Statom, creator of the Atrium Chandeliers, on an art project! Firefighter Storytime with stories, songs and crafts for children pre-school to grade 2. Celebrate Goosebumps with readings, activities and crafts for children in grades 3-5. Break in Box, teams ages 8 and up help unlock a mysterious box containing a treasure from our collection by decoding messages and solving puzzles. Visit the “Library of the Future” to see what tech may be coming to a library near you. Participants ages 13 and up will be able to try out VR equipment and experiences. Broadway to the Rescue returns to the historic Montalban Theatre in Hollywood on October 13th with a bigger and better show than ever before. Dozens of Broadway performers, with over 100 Broadway credits collectively, will join together for an epic evening in support of the Hope of the Valley homeless mission. Last year’s audience erupted to blockbusters from Wicked, Hamilton, Hairspray, Cats, Hair, Rent, Les Miserables and Little Shop of Horrors to name a few. This year’s event will be inspired by the unmatched catalog of Disney movies and musicals, including The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Frozen, Hercules, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Princess and the Frog and many more. Diavolo | Architecture in Motion®
Diavolo returns to The Music Center’s Ahmanson Theatre and the West Coast with the premiere of Voyage. Known for incorporating oversized structures into its performances to create the company’s signature “architecture in motion” style, Diavolo uses dance to explore the relationship between the human body and its architectural environment. By weaving together contemporary dance, daredevil gymnastics, and fearless acrobatics into performances that defy gravity, Diavolo’s work reveals how people are affected emotionally, physically and socially by the spaces they inhabit. The three-day engagement follows Diavolo’s recent appearances on Season 12 of NBC’s hit series America’s Got Talent where the company was one of the top 10 contestants to reach the show’s finale, performing five new pieces by Artistic Director Jacques Heim. Kidspace’s Arroyo Adventure will be glowing with ghouls, spooks, and mystery as you journey through the Haunted Arroyo. Light yourself up with glow in the dark paint, and make a spooky potion. In Partnership with Fire & Creme, PLATFORM’s third annual pumpkin patch is being hosted by three-year-old social media sensations Mila and Emma Stauffer (@kcstauffer). Expect fun and games for children ages 10 and younger including a hay barrel maze and arts & crafts. Special activities on weekends including face painting, balloon artists and a petting zoo.
