Turn the (Family) Beat Around
Once you become a parent, it’s pretty normal to trade in your nights at the club for cutting a rug on your actual living room rug to tame tunes. Kids Dance Society founders and parents, Paul Thrush and Iskui Chldryan, want to change that. Why give up all the fun of dancing under colorful lights to music you actually enjoy, when you could be sharing that experience with your kids instead. Kids Dance Society is all about creating an awesome party atmosphere that both kids and parents can enjoy together.

Hey Mr. DJ, Put a Record On
Thrush and Chldryan were inspired to start the Kids Dance Society after attending their daughter’s school dance and watching the parents whiling away the minutes starring at their phones. They wanted to offer entertainment, and most importantly music, that guests of all ages can enjoy. You won’t find any Raffi tunes or ‪Kidz Bop remixes at a KDS event, instead you’ll hit the dance floor to the beat of real world DJs, like you might find in any dance club you used to hit up in your pre-kid days. Playing a mix of family-friendly deep house and techno, the DJs are sure to get your whole family up and moving under the flashing lights and disco balls.

It’s My Party, and I’ll Snack If I Want To (Craft, Too)
Besides dancing, KDS events also feature activity stations where you can have your faces painted or get a glow-in-the-dark glitter tattoo, get crafty making friendship bracelets, take pictures in a Photo Booth, or just take a break in the cozy lounge area. Snack Stands feature sweets, like cupcakes, and kids snacks, like Go-Go Squeeze and Kind Bar. There is also a full cash bar if you prefer to hit the dance floor with an adult beverage. Kid-friendly mocktails made with fresh, organic juice are also on the menu.

Getting on the List
The Kids Dance Society welcomes little movers and shakers of all ages; even toddling tots and babies can get in on the action. All you need is a ticket, which can be purchased in advance online or at the door, though we recommend buying in advance. The next Kids Dance Society event is ‪on Saturday June 17, 2-4:30 p.m. at the West End Night Club in Santa Monica. Tickets are $20 per person or you can purchase a family of four discount for $65. Babes under one are free.

Their plan is to put on monthly events at different venues across the city, as well as participating in larger LA festivals and events, like the upcoming Marina del Rey Fireworks display. Check their website or follow them on Instagram for details on all the upcoming events.

You Say It’s Your Birthday
A Kids Dance Society event is the perfect place to celebrate an unforgettable birthday. KDS offers various party packages at their general admission events, which include a roped off private area for guests, food, goody bags packed with glow sticks, and dance lessons. You can also hire KDS for a private event and they will bring the dance party to your own location.
