Parade and Fireworks on Catalina
when: Jul 4, 2013 at 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm
where: Catalina Island, Avalon, Ca
ages: All Ages
No cars? No problem! It’s a golf cart parade for the 4th of July on Catalina Island down Crescent Avenue. The parade begins at 1:00 pm, but get there early to stake out your best viewing spot. After the parade, stroll around town and listen to live music playing everywhere or hit the beach or take a hike. In the evening you might choose to enjoy a BBQ buffet dinner & music by the USC Marching Band in the Casino Ballroom, where you can go out to the balcony to see the fireworks display over Avalon Bay; or you may choose to just watch it from your hotel or a boat – it’s an island, so the best seat in the house is wherever you happen to be sitting.
This year is the 100th anniversary of Catalina Islands incorporation, so they’re planning an extra special celebration. If you haven’t taken the kids for a (local) island vacation, this long weekend might just be the perfect time!
