Why let the big kids have all the fun at camp this summer? Toddlers love adventures, too, and at this unique new summer field trip program, you and your not-quite-ready-for-camp kids can spend sunshine-soaked days exploring and learning at some of the best spots for kids in LA, while developing new skills and making new friends.

Mommy & Me in the City
Traditional Mommy/Parent & Me classes meet in one location and focus on developing socialization and motor skills by singing songs and playing games. Rinaldi’s Mommy and Me Summer School Field Trip program takes circle time out into the world where you can check out some awesome educational spots in the company of your classmates. It’s an introduction to camp, where you can be there to reassure your kids (and you can take part in the fun!). The six week program, that runs through June and July, meets on Mondays for field trips throughout LA. The trip locations include Underwood Farms, California Science Center, the Aquatic Center in Santa Clarita, William S. Hart Park, Ventura Beach, and Kidspace Children’s Museum.

How It Works
Parents drive their own kids to the location of the week and arrive between 9-10 a.m. You and your little explorer can check out the space on your own or with your friends in the group for the first hour and then everyone gathers at 11 a.m. for snacks, songs, parachute play or dance time. Afterwards, you’re free to keep exploring and can stay as long as you like depending on your own child and schedule.

The Rinaldi Difference
What sets this Mommy & Me apart from other parent and me classes is that it’s not just a class for kids, it’s also a class for parents. The emphasis is on both kids and parents learning and growing through shared activities. Parents can observe teaching techniques that they can utilize at home, as well as building relationships with other parents in the class, because who couldn’t use a good support system when you’re new to parenthood? (Or new to LA, or new to LA as a parent; let’s face it, this is a whole new city when you’re bringing your kiddo along on your adventures!)
Rinaldi’s Summer Field Trip program runs weekly from June 12-July 24 (no class the week of July 4th) and meets on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $150 for one child and one parent. There is an additional $50 fee per sibling, and kids of any age are welcome to join along. The fees include entrance to all the activities. Registration is currently open online.
