If the name “Zookies” doesn’t make you smile, their super fun products will definitely bring a grin to your face. Zookies is the brainchild of Lora Jakobsen, who wanted to design a shirt that gave kids the freedom to express themselves. Thus, in 1999, the first chalk board shirt was born. Armed with colorful chalk and a limitless imagination, little tots loved decorating Zookies’ innovative tees.

Today, the chalk board line includes adorable lunch boxes, place mats, sun hats, aprons, and more. Write a sweet note on the front of the lunch box or watch your little one perfect his penmanship on the place mat. The latter comes with flash cards to help build writing and spelling skills. For more hands-on, imaginative play, check out Zookies’ whimsical arts and crafts, like super hero masks and crown kits for your prince or princess.

We also applaud Zookies for its local focus. Their own line is made right here in Los Angeles, and they strive to carry other California products. Plus, they support companies owned by women and moms, so you can feel great about shopping at Zookies, whether you’re buying a flowery summer dress, snuggly soft baby shoes, or eco-friendly toy trucks. Go ahead and purchase all three!
