There’s news in the world of fertility medicine! A new needle-free IVF treatment is ready to make its grand debut. And it’s going to take away those annoying pinches and punctures for good. NYC’s New Hope Fertility Center is now offering their patients the chance to choose a new type of IVF — minus the needles. So what does this needle-free IVF treatment look like and does it really work? Well… we’ve got a few answers for you.
Who can use needle-free IVF? Um, the answer depends on what your doc has to say. But this option is kind of perfect for women who have serious needle fears. Imagine having to stick yourself over and over again, even though needles make you more than anxious. Or maybe you don’t have to imagine it. Maybe this is you. In any case, New Hope Fertility Center’s eliminates the need to stress over needles.
I can’t even begin to understand the incredible difficulty that is an infertility struggle, but I’m so honored to get to help make this family’s story come to life! This is Lennon and the 500+ injections, vials, pill bottles, & patches that it took to get him here. Read some of his mama, Lesleigh’s, story below & send some love out to them! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ +++++++++++++ Some women only know the physical, emotional, and financial strains that come after their easy to come by pregnancy. Others, experience all of those as they stand on the front lines of infertility and loss in the months, and years, prior to their hard fought for pregnancy. I am the latter. I've been very public with our journey so you may already know what we went through in order to get sweet Lennon here. There were several surgeries, a failed IUI, successful IVF (Our love Lochlan), cancelled transfers, frozen embryo transfers, and sadly, loss. All of this came at a heavy price and not just the financial type. What we went through to build our family was no small feat but, it's our story. It's the journey we were chosen to go on and it's a path that led us to being parents of the most incredible little guys. This one small picture speaks volumes about what it actually takes for some babies to make their way into this world. This picture has every single shot, vial of medication, patch, & pill bottle that we used in the past two years. It physically represents hours of injections, sticky residue from medicine patches, & pills carefully tracked. What it doesn't show are the countless doctor's appointments, bruised abdomen, hopes lifted, dreams crushed & tears shed. I saved everything in hopes that one day I'd be able to turn something that on the outside looks very harsh and medical into something beautiful. On the left you see my sweet Lennon, who is a "double rainbow" (baby born after two loses) lying at the foot of a giant rainbow created from all of the love, & science, that it took to get him to that very moment in time. He's nothing short of a miracle and his presence will never be taken for granted. So welcome to the world sweet boy, you'll never quite know just how loved & wanted you truly are.
How does IVF work without the shots, needles and injections? Oh yeah, and the blood draws? Instead of injectable fertility meds, patients can take oral medication to stimulate their ovaries. Along with the oral prescriptions (typically Clomid), a nasal spray is used 36 hours before the egg retrieval process to trigger ovulation. Other needle-free med options include oral progesterone tablets and vaginal progesterone suppositories.
Um, but what about all of those blood tests? Forget about it. The needle-free method uses urine and saliva tests to measure hormone levels.
Even though the needle-free IVF treatment may produce fewer eggs than the injection-based version, it’s often the quality and not the quantity (of eggs) that’s important when trying to conceive.
