One of the best things about being a parent in NYC is the dizzying number of options of all things kid-related. This is never more true than when it comes to “Mommy & Me” classes. Even if the idea of sitting around in a circle and singing with other parents and kids makes you cringe (you’re not alone, by the way), there is a class out there you will actually enjoy. (Your kid?: They’ll love it.) We’ve rounded up more than a dozen classes to take with your tot, from tummy time to sign language to all kinds of music to get you and the kid movin’ and groovin’. (Daddies are of course welcome, too.) Click on through to find your perfect match!
Best for bonding
Baby in Tune, led by music therapist Vered Ronen, gives mom and pop the necessary musical tools to bond with their little ones. In this music class, which feels like it doubles as a parent-therapy group thanks to small class size and intimate settings, Vered plays her original songs and explains the impact that they have on the developmental stage of your baby and the appropriate times to play them. After each class, you are left with a greater appreciation of the power of music, armed with a few more tricks on how to be an awesome parent.
Be in the Know: If you can't get enough of her, Vered is also available for birthday parties.
Ages: 0 -24 months
Location: Locations vary, as they are held at group members' apartments. You can also start your own group of 5 moms at your apartment or neighborhood play space and get the series for free.
Cost: A session is 6 weeks and costs $230, including a CD.
