Battery Dance Company's 33rd Annual Downtown Dance Festival will take place at Robert F. Wagner Jr. Park in Battery Park City, August 17th-21st from 6pm-8pm. Free to the public! The Downtown Dance Festival (DDF) is one of lower Manhattan’s most highly anticipated summer events. Initiated in 1982 by Battery Dance Company (BDC), the Festival has thrilled audiences in the hundreds of thousands and showcased great dance companies from around the world as well as the best New York City has to offer, all free-of-charge to the public. The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker and many foreign media outlets have accorded the DDF consistently excellent reviews and lavish features. As Battery Dance Company’s signature downtown community program, DDF has featured over 200 dance companies ranging in style from classical ballet to post-modern, Indian classical to Afro-Cuban. The Downtown Dance Festival is NYC’s longest-running dance festival. Get cooking behind-the-scenes with some of the hottest restaurants in New York City. Hot Shot Chefs will be making pizzas at Roberta's pizzas in Roberta's own outdoor wood-burning oven! So hot! It's not everyday we have the chance to make fresh pasta hands-on along-side the Pro's at Buttermilk Channel. Then it's on to Red Cook where we take a trip to dumpling land! Pinch me- this is too delicious to be true! Throw on your apron and grab your whisk - we're cooking up some serious deliciousness this summer right inside real restaurants and right beside some Hot Shot Chefs! Sprouts Cooking Club is a non-profit organization that educates children from all socio-economic backgrounds about food and nutrition through hands-on cooking along-side local chefs. We hope to create a generation of healthy, balanced kids that know what good, real food is all about and have the skills and confidence to create it for themselves and their community. Classes for kids ages 7-14. Scholarships applications are available for those in need.
