Frozen, fruity and lighter than ice cream, ice pops really hit the spot on a hot, humid, NYC summer day. The trendiest spots go above and beyond the Popsicles of our youth to offer your kids (and you) and chilly, flavor explosion worth the sugar rush. Read on to discover Red Tricycle’s favorite ice pops including shops, stands and even a locally made popsicle that you can pick up while buying groceries. They’ll beat a dunk in the Hudson River (eww!) or a stir-crazy afternoon at home in the A/C any day.

Frozen Peaks

Here you'll find up to 24 flavors of self-serve frozen yogurt and more than 60 toppings to create your ideal cup of dessert. But the unique thing here is that instead of soft serve, you can pick a plain yogurt pop to dip, decorate and make delicious to your heart's content. You don't customize the pops yourself though, "FP Pops Artisans" will add your choice of the 6 coatings and 8 toppings offered instead.

Where to find them: Stop into Frozen Peaks in Greenwich Village at 154 Bleecker St. or in Boerum Hill at 115 Court St.

What to order: Get creative! Flavors of froyo pops vary daily based on the frozen yogurt offered in store that day. Try coatings like cotton candy, milk chocolate and strawberry, along with toppings including rainbow sprinkles, crushed Whoppers or pistachios.

Cost: These pops are priced under $5 each.

Good to Know: If your kid loves customizing his own froyo bars, consider having his next birthday party at Frozen Peaks.
