25 Mom Groups Every New York Mom Should Know
Mothers’ Clubs, local parenting organizations and moms groups are a great way to connect with other families in your area and establish a supportive community of like-minded folks. Many clubs coordinate play groups, outings, parties and other fun activities for the entire family. View the comprehensive list below to find the club nearest you throughout New York City (including Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, SoHo, and many other neighborhoods) as well as special interest groups (working parents, single parenting, parents of a certain age and more).
New York Newcomers
Join a Newcomers Club to meet some new friends and become more familiar with the NYC area you call home. NY Newcomers is a non-profit organization committed to making it easy and fun to get adjusted to a new place or a new time in your life. Many clubs offer a variety of events including Moms & Kids, Ladies Night Out, and Dining Out.
Mommybites Expectant & Moms Support Groups
Come together for six weeks with a small, supportive group of women to share experiences, gather resources, ask questions, and bring more calm to the adjustment of motherhood. After these warm, informative, and friendly sessions, you’ll be fully connected to a great group of other moms and have wonderful new resources for being a mom in New York City.
Urban Mom Squad
Urban Mom Squad is a social group for mothers of children aged five or younger. With mom-only evening events and daytime kid-friendly events, there is something for every mom! Bring your friends or come on your own – at each event, you’ll have the chance to meet new dynamic moms in the city.
Big City Moms
Big City Moms is the premiere social event group in NYC for moms, moms-to-be, and families. From seminars and family fun days to mommy and me classes and expectant events, Big City Moms is the place to be all over the city.
The Bronx New Mommies Group Inc.
This non-profit support organization focuses on moms and moms-to-be in the Bronx but welcomes all parents with children of all ages. It provides mother-to-mother support through activities and special interest groups and promotes positive parenting, social interaction, and increased parental confidence.
HRP Mamas
Hudson River Park Mamas (HRP Mamas) offers support and community to mothers residing in Lower Manhattan, with children born in 2003 or later. HRP Mamas has a network of over 2000 local moms, a vibrant forum for discussions, a busy classifieds message board, a calendar of volunteer-run expectant mom meetups, playgroups, select social events, and email blasts about local events and activities.
SoHo Parenting
Soho Parenting groups are ongoing, weekly, bi weekly or monthly groups for women who use Soho Parenting for continued guidance and support as their families develop and grow. Groups are organized by the ages of the children and provide developmental information as well insight into the emotional work it takes to be a thoughtful parent.
Downtown Babies
Downtown Babies offers unique educational play and music classes, parenting forums, and exciting social events and parties for infants and children up to 5 years and their parents.
Park Slope Parents
Park Slope Parents is open to expectant parents and parents with children of all ages in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York and surrounding neighborhoods. PSP maintains members-only Yahoo! Groups, pregnancy, baby groups, specialty groups and a publicly accessible web site. They also help organize local family events such as: the Spring Fling, Easter Egg Hunt, clothing swaps and more.
Parent P-L-A-Y
While your kids play with pre-screened babysitters and entertainers in a built-out playspace (adjacent party room of a restaurant or a venue), you get a gourmet meal with some well-deserved rest + relaxation, stimulating adult conversation and added amenities (author chats, massage therapists, quality trunk shows) plus an expensive gift bag on your way out the door.
Motherhood Later Than Sooner
Having a family later in life can pose particular challenges, and Motherhood Sooner Than Later aims to create a specific community of friendship and support for women who became moms for the first time, or again, at age 35 or over.
Families First Brooklyn
This independent, non-profit organization offers a wide variety of high-quality classes for children ages 0-7, support groups for parents, and enriching parenting workshops. Their facility in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn also has a playspace where parents, caregivers, and children can socialize and play indoors.
Executive Moms
Executive Moms provides women who are both mothers and professionals with the peer support, networking opportunities, and unique resources to thrive in both roles. In addition to Mom Groups, there is a thriving online community, luncheons, and other parenting events.
Bronx & Westchester Moms’ Group
This group is a resource for new moms and their kids to meet up for coffee, playtime, and more.
Babycenter Birth Clubs
These groups are aimed to help members meet other parents with kids born in the same month and share parenting stories, offer support, and learn as the kids grow.
MOMS Club of Park Slope
This friendly network of stay-at-home parents meet regularly with their kids in the form of weekly playgroups, early dinners out, coffee dates, holiday parties, park picnics, and more. Communication is primarily through an online group, a great forum for networking, and asking and answering parenting questions.
Bowery Babes
Bowery Babes is a NY non-profit dedicated to supporting women from pregnancy through the early years of motherhood and beyond. They strive to connect people and enhance the neighborhood for mothers and their families — to give the children a sense of togetherness and mothers a sense of calm and support.
New Moms Support Group NYC
This group’s mission is to provide support and community to moms with kids age 4 and under. All are invited: new moms, expectant moms, toddler moms, working moms, single moms in New York areas of Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island, Westchester, and Long Island.
First Time Upper West Side Moms
Meet other friendly First (and Second and even Third time!) Upper West Side moms and dads to set up playdates, explore the neighborhood and have fun! Members share experiences, get advice and make new friends.
The Brooklyn Moms Meetup Group
This group is open to Brooklyn moms (with kids from newborn to age 16) who want to explore and hang out in their neighborhood, talk about their kids and parenting issues, and have fun!
Boacoca Parents
This is a free network of local parents residing in Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, and the surrounding neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York. The group’s mission is to establish community and communication among Bococa’s families through low-cost social events and family activities, and to provide children with opportunities in which to play, cultivate friendships and establish their roots.
Mom in the City
This is an online guide for parents in The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island that keeps parents up-to-date on the best family-friendly deals, activities and resources relating to pregnancy and parenting of kids (from babies to tweens) in the region.
Little Apple Mommies of Manhattan
This meetup is designed to help families meet and connect in a friendly setting. Parents meetup and chat about day-to-day parenting, share experiences, find advice, and give support, while the kiddos play till they drop. All moms are welcome in the area but please note that you will need to attend a New Member meetup (NMM) or know someone in the group for membership approval.
Brooklyn Playgroups
This group is for moms living in Brooklyn who would like their infants, toddlers or young children to be part of a playgroup. Members get to know other moms, arrange playdates, and establish a supportive social and educational community.
The New York Single Parents Meetup Group
