As the temperature heats up, one police department is taking major steps to remind parents of the risks associated with hot cars.

The O’Fallon Missouri PD recently posted pics of a “Baby In the Back!” car hangtag––and this idea is genius!

According to the O’Fallon PD, 13 children have already died in hot cars this year. In an effort to prevent another tragedy, the police department created bright yellow hangers that they’ll give away to the public for free.

It looks like the OPD’s hanger idea is getting both attention and applause—and for a very good reason. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that cars can heat up to dangerous levels quickly, even when it feels cool out. While cracking a window may seem like an okay-ish idea, according to the CDC, in-car temps can rise by nearly 20 degrees within 10 minutes, even with the window open.
