Portland’s crafty heart beats strong this time of year as the holidays get closer and the creative ideas start flowing. Take advantage of all that creativity floating around and craft some handmade gifts with your little ones. The following spots offer instruction and materials to make gifts like baby footprint-paintings and hand dyed silk scarves, as well as making the boxes for the gifts themselves. Click through our album to see our favorite six spots to DIY like a pro.

My Masterpiece Art Studio

Specializing in art instruction for children and families, this studio offers plenty of interesting classes and workshops over the holidays. In addition to open studio time for young artists to take brush to canvas, each Saturday in December will feature an "Art Hour" workshop. Pre-register for the class on Dec. 20th to create a hand-dyed silk scarf.
