Rox in Sox, Oregon’s newest family festival of music and reading, will hit Lake Oswego again from 10am to 4 pm on Saturday, August 2nd. The lineup of music, author readings and other festivities is growing now at www.roxinsox.org. Admission is free with a donation of new shoes, socks or books for kids in need. Last year’s Rox in Sox attracted more than 1,800 people. In all, festival volunteers collected 1,003 pairs of socks, 69 pairs of shoes and 483 books, all of which have been distributed to children in Oregon, Jamaica and Kenya. Children's book authors and illustrators will share their work with kids, and some of the top stars in today's indie family music scene will perform interactive shows. Local performers include Red Yarn, School of Rock, and Aaron Nigel Smith with his One World Chorus of kids. Nationally acclaimed "kindie rock" stars Recess Monkey, The NOt-Its! and Secret Agent 23 Skidoo will also appear.
